With workers scurrying around from place to place, it's inevitable that by the end of any battle you'll be down to a fraction of your labor force. In Starfront, when you send your worker to generate power, he becomes a permanent power worker, leaving the battlefield altogether. It's the same when you create a building. Mar 22, 2019 Starfront: Collision HD – the best strategy in the real time. Choose one from three races and enter resource war! In the game there’re 20 missions in a passing mode, 24 constructions, 30 types of units and 5 various locations.
AdvertisementThe most important issue for most players is likely to be the controls and even though we were playing this on the relatively small screen of an iPod touch they work extremely well. You can order units around by group selecting them and pointing as you’d expect, but the onscreen menus are also well thought out and reliable.Where the game does fall down is in the opposition offered by the artificial intelligence in the campaign missions. Although the stages are relatively varied the tactics of your opponents are not, which makes this a pretty unsatisfying single-player experience.Gameloft are clearly aware of the importance of multiplayer to the genre though and there’s an impressive set of four-player options available via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and online. You can play in teams and in ranked matches, and there’s already a hotly contested leaderboard (dominated by South Korean players, natch).Another important feature is that there’s a very generous free demo available. But oddly you can only unlock the full game from within its own menus, not separately via the App Store – which is the first time we’ve seen it work like that.Starfront is clearly just a shadow of the game it so obviously imitates but it fulfils that role extremely well. And if Blizzard are too busy to provide an official portable version of Starcraft this will do perfectly well as a thoroughly unofficial one.In Short:The best portable real-time strategy game ever made – even if most of the credit belongs to Blizzard not Gameloft.
